AMATEUR BASEBALL: Granite Falls ends Wabasso’s season with 4-2 victory


GRANITE FALLS — The Wabasso and Granite Falls amateur baseball teams came in with identical records of 7-9, having defeated each other in the season and vying for a spot in the Region 4C tournament on Wednesday evening. The Kilowatts would win a close game, eliminating Wabasso 4-2.

Bennett Knapper for the Kilowatts led the team in hits with two and led in RBIs with two as well. Teammates Jordan Odegard and Cody Dalagher also had two hits apiece in the ballgame. Knapper also pitched a complete game surrendering only two runs and striking out five in the victory.

Despite Wabasso tying up the game after the Kilowatts scored first, they only could muster up four hits in the game. Samuel Guetter for Wabasso had two of their four hits in the game and in a losing effort, starting pitcher for Wabasso Devan Liebl gave up four runs but struck out nine in seven innings.

The Kilowatts now move on to regions where an opponent, date and time are still to be determined.
