Smith goes yard twice for Irish in route of A's 13-0

MILROY --Derek Smith, catcher of the Milroy Irish, honers twice in blowout victory over the Pipestone Athletics 13-0 in seven innings. The win gives the Irish four straight since dropping two in a row.
Smith finished with three hits and five RBIs on the night.
After a first inning run allowed, the Irish would bunt and have the Pipestone Athletics commit two errors in the inning to give them a 3-0 lead in the second. The first four batters of the inning made it safely including a Moses Dolan single. Later in the inning catcher for Milroy Derek Smith blasted a first pitch from A's pitcher Jared Baartman over the left field wall for a three run home run, giving the Irish a 6-0 lead and finishing the day for Baartman.
Smith would add a second home run on the day lacing a sinker pitch over the left field wall to extend the lead of the Irish 8-0 after four innings. The Pipestone A's had base runners in each of the first four innings but were unable to get them across home plate leaving them stranded.
After an inning of no scoring, the bottom of the sixth was all Milroy.
The inning started off with Smith doubling to left center field, the starting pitcher Tyler Maeyaert hit a bunt single. Connor zwick would hit a RBI single straight into center field making it 9-0, a wild pitch would ensure making it 10-0. Dominic Dolan laced a ball straight to center for a bases clearing triple, making it 13-0 Irish.
Pipestone would go three up and three down in the 7th, concluding the game and preserving the no hitter that the Milroy put together. Manager of the Irish Anthony Dolan spoke after the game.
"It was a good team win," Anthony Dolan said.
"We have been putting some good bats together and we have been playing great baseball lately. Hopefully we can continue that moving forward."
Pipestone Athletics manager was not available for comment.
The Milroy Irish (13-5) will now host the Raymond Rockets in their home finale of the regular season on Friday evening.
