Irish snapped losing streak in a shutout win over the Cubs, 7-0

MILROY-- After scoring a total of 27 runs in their past meeting the Milroy Irish defeat the Worthington Cubs 7-0 on Wednesday evening. The Cubs left over 12 base runners on base and couldn't get a runner across home plate in this contest.


After a scoreless first inning, the Irish broke out with two runs on RBI singles by Tyler Peterson and Dominic Dolan, giving Milroy an early 2-0 lead after two innings.


Tyler Peterson would step up to the plate and rip an off speed pitch into left field scoring two and extending the lead to 4-0 Irish. Derek Smith came up next to the plate and hit a bloop single into right field but was tagged out trying to to stretch for two.


Tyler Maeyaert, starting pitcher for the Irish threw five shout-out innings in getting the win over the Worthington Cubs 7-0. Peterson would add a home run on the night and Worthington had two wild pitches that allowed Milroy to score two runs being aggressive on the Base paths.


This snapped a two game losing streak for the Irish putting back in the win column. The record for Milroy is now 9-5 and they conclude their five game home stand by hosting Heron Lake on Friday evening.
