Irish season ends with 10-3 loss to Webster

DUNDAS — The Class C amateur baseball Tournament got underway over the weekend, as the Milroy Irish faced off against the Webster Sox in Dundas on Saturday.
The Sox defeated the Irish 10-3, ending Milroy’s season
The Irish struck first with a triple hit by leadoff hitter Dominic Dolan followed by a double off the wall by Ben Heichel to take an early one-run lead in the fourth inning.
The Sox quickly responded in the ensuing inning tying the score up at one.
Then it was all Sox after that. The Sox had a huge seventh inning, breaking the one-all tie with five runs for a 6-1 lead.
“The Webster bats took off and were hitting the ball all over the field,” Irish manager Anthony Dolan said. I gotta tip my hat a little bit to the Webster squad.
They’re starting pitcher Peter Tveite wad dominant and kept our bats quiet all night. With it being Webster’s first time to state, they had tons on energy and played with that nothing to lose mentality.”
The Irish would score another run off a Heichel RBI single. Despite having the bases loaded with one out, the Irish couldn’t capitalize and stranded all three runners heading into the eighth.
The Sox put four more runs up putting a once close game out of reach.
The Irish would fall 10-3, giving them their fourth loss in the last seven games after starting the season 18-2. In three of the last four losses, the Irish blew leads.
Anthony Dolan added that he was proud of the guys for showing up all year and making this an amazing season to remember.
