Tigers, Cardinals battle to tie

WILLMAR – The Marshall Tigers swim and dive team traveled to Willmar and finished in a tie with 93 points apiece on Tuesday evening.

The first event won for the Tigers was a 200 yard relay. The Tigers team was comprised of seniors Mansi Bell, Emma Beavers, junior Alex Larson and Eighth-grader Aaliyah Podratz. The group finished with a first place time of 2:06.64.

The next event where a Tiger finished first was the 50 yard freestyle. Freshman Grace Rokeh placed first with a time of 27.96. Rokeh would also go on to win her second event of the night in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.32.

Bell would win first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:09:12. Her teammate Beavers would also win her second event of the night as well in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16.45.

The final event of the night would also go to the Tigers. The Tigers won the 400 yard freestyle relay. The team was comprised of senior Tera Johnson, sophomore Alana Condeza, freshman Autumn Deutz and Rokeh.

The Marshall Tigers swim and dive team next meet will be their first home meet of the season versus Tri-City United. The meet will be on Oct. 13th at 6 p.m on Southwest Minnesota State University campus.
