MARSHALL — Fresh off a season where they won the Section 2AAA tournament before falling to Grand Rapids in the state tournament, the Marshall baseball team is hoping to make another state trip under coach Chace Pollock. Despite graduating 10 seniors, the Tigers are returning three starters including Charlie Jacobson, Connor Neubeck and Seth Radtke.

Pollock, who is coming into his ninth year as head coach, talked about his team’s strengths this year which include defense and pitching.

“Defense,” Pollock said. “I feel we have a very solid defensive team. We will be strong on the mound as well, so it should set up for a fun year.”

The Tigers have four seniors on the roster but will also have a variety of new faces on its roster.

Pollock also elaborated on the expectations the team.

“We’ll have a lot of new faces out there, so this group is unique and different from last year,” Pollock said. “We want to improve and grow each day. This team has worked really hard and has been a blast to be around.”

The Tigers kicked off the season on April 11 against New Prague, falling 10-5.
