SPRING SPORTS PREVIEW: TMB softball

CHRIS DRUMMOND cdrummond@marshallindependent.com

TRACY — After a solid season last year in which they went 15-6, the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton softball team will look to keep the momentum going under fifth-year head coach Karl Campbell and will have plenty of experience to rely on. The Panthers are returning 13 players with Kiarra Danielson, Grace Dolan, Margaret Dolan and Kamryn Peterson leading the charge. TMB will also be making the jump back to Class A after being in Class AA for the past four seasons.

Campbell added how his team can improve but also mentioned some strengths as well.

“We have an athletic team that should have the ability to play solid defense and offensively put pressure on the opposing team,” Campbell said. “We can always improve, but we graduated two starting pitchers, that will definitely be an area of focus.” Coach Campbell advocated about expectations for this upcoming season.

“With the move back to Class A, we are looking forward to competing in the section playoffs,” Campbell said. “We want to put ourselves in position to compete for a Camden Conference title.”

Campbell also stated that while they’ve spent the majority of their practice time indoors due to inclement weather, they’ve been focusing on getting a lot of repetitions in as well as staying physically and mentally sharp.

We are putting a lot of work in the batting cage, getting a lot of pitching reps in and doing as much as we can defensively both physically and mentally,” Campbell said.
