COTTONWOOD- After winning just seven games in 2022, the Lakeview Lakers softball team is under new leadership, with Chelsey Evans taking over the helm and looking to improve this season. This year the Lakers will have a young team with only two seniors on the roster (Mckenzy Grunewald and Alba Baquero) and will be able to learn and try to develop into a competitive team by year’s end. Evans talked about expectations for this young team this season and what they been working on in practice.
“To come each day ready to work and get better,” Evans said. “We have been working on making little adjustments each day defensively and offensively.”
The Lakers will have a sister-sister combo in the coaching ranks, as Cassie Evans will be the assistant coach. Chelsey Evans spoke on what she is most looking forward to this season including coaching with her sister Cassie.
“Being back around the game and working along side my sister Cassie,” Chelsey Evans said. “Also getting to learn about each girl as I teach them my knowledge about the game.”
