MILROY — The Milroy Irish amateur baseball team has been on an offensive tear so far this season, scoring double-digit runs in all but one game. Facing the Pipestone A’s in a Gopher league game on a windy Wednesday in May, the Irish continued that trend and earned a 14-1 victory in seven innings.

The Irish got off to a hot start with a three-run homer by outfielder Ben Heichel. In the ensuing inning the A’s would score their lone run of the game with a home run by catcher Collin Moeller. Then it would be all Milroy the rest of the way.

Milroy Irish starting catcher Derek Smith would have multiple hits including a triple and drove in three runs on the night. Starting shortstop Dominic Dolan had four hits and also drove in three RBIs on the night and outfielder Tyler Patterson had three hits as well. The Irish would score runs in every inning and have a total of 19 hits in the ballgame. Pipestone committed more errors (6) than runs and hits combined in the ballgame (4).

The Milroy Irish are undefeated in league play at 4-0 and 6-1 overall this season. Milroy’s next game is at home on Friday night versus the Raymond Rockets, with first pitch at 7:30 p.m.
