Normally when you hear about your ace pitcher Clayton Kershaw going to the DL(Disabled List), it is not a good thing.

However, with as much talent as the Dodgers have acquired, they din't need him opening night.

Dustin May replaced Kershaw as the starter and did a solid job going 4 1/3 innings, striking out four batters and giving up just one run in his rookie debut.

The bullpen for Los Angeles would use four pitchers and pitched 4 2/3 innings, surrendering no runs in dominant fashion.

The newly acquired Mookie Betts, outfielder for Los Angeles, recently signed a 12-year extension for 365-million dollars, according to ESPN.

He untied a game when teammate Justin Turner hit an infield single to bring Betts in to give the Dodgers the lead for good.

It was 2-1 at that point in the bottom of the 7th and LA would add four more runs in inning and two more in the 8th to solidify the dominant victory of 8-1 over the division rival Giants.

Although Cody Bellinger and Mookie Betts are the marquee players on a very good team, with them being the last two MVP's for there respective conferences in consecutive years, the star of the night was Kike Hernandez, catcher for Los Angeles.

Hernandez had a 4-hit night, which included a home run and bringing in 5 Rbi's to lead the team.

The San Francisco Giants were undermanned coming into game playing without there star catcher Buster Posey, due to him opting out of season because of Coronavirus

They were also without players Brandon Belt and Evan Longoria due to injuries.

The second of this four game series will be played tonight.

First pitch is at 9:40 P.M

Fun fact about me seeing the Dodgers play my very first time

I was six years old, remembering when i was in Qualcomm Stadium watching my Padres face off against the Dodgers. That was the moment I fell in love with baseball. Seeing Tony Gwynn, Trevor Hoffman and Steve Finley was amazing for me. I always thought that Los Angeles was a solid team and definitely built a rivalry with the Padres in those late 1990s.
