The San Diego Padres have the second best record in the National league only behind their rival California team the Los Angeles Dodgers.

They have won five straight games and Mitch Moreland plus Austin Nola contributed big in the 6-1 victory tonight over San Francisco.

San Diego jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the 1st inning, behind doubles from Moreland and Nola.

Jorge Ona would get his first MLB hit as a home run to create bigger lead for the Padres as they went up 5-1.

They would use a strong bullpen to dominate San Francisco hitters and limit then to one run.

The only bad thing about the night for San Diego, was Chris paddock sprained ankle injury, which cause him to leave the game early.

No prognosis on injury yet or if paddock will miss any time.

The second game of this series is tonight at 9:10 PM

Game is at Eastern Time.
