In October 2020, Alpha Omicron Pi hosted an event on behalf of the Arthritis Foundation called Run For The Roses. The sorority initially planned for October 24, but they decided to extend the day event to a week. This rescheduling allowed for more time for donations and sign-ups for the race.

This event has been going on for quite some time. It is a 5k event hosted early in the morning where participants can show off their skills and win prizes at the end of the race. 2020, however, has been a different year. Due to protocols and safety for everyone involved, this year's event was a virtual one. When talking about the sorority origins, there were two members that I interviewed.

"I am a senior now and I have been with AOii for three years. Said Emilie Thuman, Assistant Philanthropy Chair of AOii. It was founded in 1897 by four women. It was started because one of the women was Jewish and denied the opportunity to join a sorority."

Liz Chueng, a freshman at Kennesaw State and a new member of AOii, spoke about who the four women were and why she decided to join AOii.

"I just sorta knew that AOii was the right choice for me, and also I am friends with someone who just graduated from KSU, who was in the sorority, said the most wonderful things and that's why I joined."

Chueng also elaborated by stating the four founders of Aoii: Stella George Stern Perry, Jessie Wallace Hughan, Helen St. Clair Mullan, and Elizabeth Haywood Wyman.

Run For The Roses event raised $14, 451 and had 162 participants in the virtual event per Head Philanthropy Chair of sorority Autumn Huber. This is just one of the two events AOii does on the behalf of the Arthritis Foundation. Toss out event will be hosted sometime in the spring semester. For ways to help out and donate, you can follow Kennesaw State University Alpha Omicron Pi on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and come visit the tents up on the green to get details on how to participate and donate to a great cause.
