CANTON — Creekview was absolutely dominant, scoring in six of its first seven drives of the game, defeating Woodstock 48-0 on Friday at the Grizzly Den.
Senior running back Tyler Stevens accounted for four rushing touchdowns of 2, 2, 1 and 12 yards. He had 103 yards of total offense and did not play in the second half.
Creekview (2-0) also forced five turnovers and had a special teams fumble recovery touchdown by Logan Harden.
Woodstock (0-3) accounted for more punt yards (205) than total offense (33) for the game.
Running backs Isaac Hubert and A.J Vaccaro also scored rushing touchdowns as Creekview led 48-0 at halftime on homecoming night and never let the Wolverines get going.
It matched the second-most lopsided win in the Grizzlies’ history, only trailing a 56-0 win over Towns County in 2007.
Creekview coach Trevor Williams praised his team’s solid performance.
“Tonight, I felt we took that next step,” Williams said. “We took advantage of some opportunities created by us forcing turnovers, and when our offense is clicking, were fun to watch.”
Williams then elaborated on Stevens’ big night.
“I couldn’t be more proud of Tyler,” Williams said. “His leadership has grown, his confidence has grown, and he’d be the first to tell you that he doesn’t have a night like this without his offensive line.”
Stevens backed up his coach’s sentiments about the offensive line.
“I can’t do anything without my offensive line,” Stevens said. “They have been doing a great job and improving every day. They gave me wide-open lanes to run through.”
One thing that marred by the victory for Creekview was penalties. It had eight penalties accounting for 80 yards.
As Woodstock remained winless, coach Troy Hoff spoke about the game and what to take from it.
“We just need to have a solid week of practice,” he said. “Not one particular thing we need to work on, but just come out have a good practice week, learn from it and move forward.”
Creekview will look to continue its intra-county success as it travels to Cherokee this week, while Woodstock will travel to Campbell.
