Creekview leads throughout, beats Woodstock 16-2

WOODSTOCK — Creekview imposed its will early and late as it left Woodstock with a 16-2 win last Friday night. Quarterback Brody Rhodes threw a 31-yard pass to A.J. Vaccaro for the only touchdown in the the first half of the game, part of Rhodes’ 213 yards of combined offense in the game.

In the second half, Creekview running back Tyler Stevens took over. He added a 13-yard touchdown to seal the victory as he went on to rush for 167 yards, with 146 coming in the second half alone.

Stevens credited his big night to his offensive line.

“I have to give credit for my offensive line, Anthony Dorr, Francisco Perez, Braden Dabrowa, Cooper Saladin and Sam Hartley,” Stevens said. “They gave me the push I needed to break away and have a big night.” Creekview (2-0) held Woodstock (1-2) to six first downs and 107 yards for the game. Creekview coach Trevor Williams complimented his defense for not surrendering any points. Woodstock’s only points came on a safety, when Creekview was penalized for intentional grounding in the end zone. “Just their effort,” Williams said. “Our guys play with such great effort. They fly around to the football and play together. They kept going out their series after series after series and making big stops in big moments.” Williams also felt Stevens had a big night on the ground. “I’m sure he was the first to tell you that the offensive line was the big reason why he was able to get through some holes late,” Williams said. “You know, with the running game, it is a lot like a boxing match — body blow, body blow and then you break a couple. He sure played well tonight.”
